Private Arboreta Certification Program
The private arboretum certification program is for those individuals that love the diverse trees that are suited to grow in Tennessee and have thus collected a minimum of 100 tree species. Though the private arboretum program shares the private property aspect of the tree sanctuary program, it is actually more similar to the public arboretum program because of the requirements. All private arboreta trees are required to be labeled and are inspected to ensure that all of the trees are labeled correctly.
Other criteria for certification include submitting an application with the following: a list of trees with their common and scientific names, a short website description, and several photos.
All certified private arboretum participants receive: a new tree species, a Trees of TN book, an arboretum marker, two registrations to the TUFC conference and award ceremony, and promotion of any arboretum event (if desired). More offerings are available with each ascending level of certification.
The Private Arboretum program is an outgrowth of TUFC’s arboreta certification of public properties, businesses and homes. TUFC ARBORETA
